Aerospace Inconel 939 Micro-drilling

🕜 Efficiency remained consistent | 📈 Quality - stable & consistent hole diameter; barely seen entangled chips | ⚙️ Tool Life - with the pilot drill, one drillling tool can drill over 90 micro-holes in a stable manner

What makes Inconel 939 difficult to machine?

The major difficulties in machining Inconel 939 lie in its material properties.  Inconel alloys are known for their resistance to oxidation and corrosion.  When heated, Inconel forms a thick, stable, passivating oxide layer protecting the surface from further attack.

Repeated machining motions (pecking or drilling) on Inconel can cause work hardening and place extra wear and tear on the tools.  This makes Inconel difficult to shape and to machine by using traditional methods.

Micro-drilling Inconel 939 has been widely applied in the Aerospace industry and Automotive industry,
especially for aircraft components (heat shields, gas turbine blades, engine exhaust piping, etc.) and automotive components (battery pack contactor, turbine wheel, etc.).

Products with this kind of feature in Inconel 939 usually take enormous amount of time and cost huge amount of money on the drillling tools.

💡 Inconel 939 aircraft components :

Aircraft components have to handle and withstand years of operation under high temperature and high pressure environments.  The hear shields, jet engines, and engine exhaust systems in the aerospace industry benefit significantly when Inconel alloys are incorporated into their systems.
Machining this kind of material usually comes with great expense in time and money due to its machining characteristics.
This is where HIT's Ultrasonic Machining Module comes in handy!  We offer a comprehensive solution in machining these difficult-to-cut materials.  With the assistance of our Ultrasonic Machining Technology, cutting force is greatly reduced and the coolant can function effectively due to high-speed frequency oscillation.  We can assure our clients of fulfilling their needs and even achieving better outcome!

💡 Inconel 939 automotive components :

Automotive industry is under more and more pressure to create fuel-efficient and pollution-controlled engines and other components.  With the outstanding combination of strong mechanical structure and corrosion resistance, Inconel alloys are often applied in a wide range of applications where high performance and reliability are required.
